To begin the installation, download the PFX file from the Trustwave Control Center that corresponds to the e-mail address you would like to secure. Download the file to the computer on which you would like to install your Secure E-Mail Digtal ID. We recommend saving it on the desktop for easy access.

Once you have downloaded your PFX, make a note of your PFX code that appears in the Trustwave Control Center. This code is necessary to install your Digital ID on your computer.

Importing your new certificate Importing your new certificate
Open Thunderbird annd choose Options from the Tools menu. Click Advannced on the left and then click Manage Certificates on the right. Click Import in the Your Certificates tab.

Enter a password for your Mozilla Security Device. This is not related to the password for your PFX key. This password secures all of your private keys and certificates within Thunderbird (and Firefox).

After you have entered and confirmed your password for the Mozilla Security Device, click OK and then the next box will be titled Password Entry Dialog. Enter your PFX decryption code that is displayed in the Trustwave Control Center. Click OK and the certificate will be installed. Click OK on the Options window.

Configuring Outlook Configuring Outlook
Choose Account Settings from the Options menu. Under your account heading, click the Security node. On the right, click Select under "Use this certificate to digitally sign messages..." and then select the Secure E-Mail Digital ID which you just installed. Click OK.

Thunderbird will ask if you want to use this same certificate to encrypt your e-mail as well. Click OK when it asks you this question.

If you want to sign all of your messages by default, click the "Digtally sign messages (by default)" option underneath the Digital Signing section. You can also click "Required" under the Encryption section, but we recommend that you leave the "Never" option selected. This way, you can select which messages to encrypt later on.

Click OK and your certificate is installed and configured.
